'Crouching Lady' by Nick Kirby Enjoy the Grounds and the Artefacts
Guests are welcome to wander through the gardens to enjoy the plants or to inspect the many interesting artefacts and collectables dotted around, or maybe just to listen to the babble of the Chainley Burn that flows down to Montcoffer from the Roman Fort of Vindolanda. Younger visitors may like to feed the ducks and chickens.
Explore the Village
We are on the edge of the quiet village of Bardon Mill. If you need a post office or want to enjoy a drink or a meal in our village pub, these are only 100 yards away. In summer, why not sit outside the pub and watch (or join in!) the ancient game of quoits being played on the village green?
About Montcoffer
Montcoffer was built aprox. 70 years ago by the local potter John Reay (of the famous Errington Reay Pottery) and is named after one of the stately residences of the Duke of Fife.

Converted in 1999 the front stable block section now provides one of the finest quality bed & breakfasts in the Hadrians Wall region.
"This is by far the best Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed in, the hosts and food are excellent." - Mr and Mrs Rushent, Reading, Berkshire more
